I think 'two wrongs don't make a right' means do not trick other people. If you lie to others, and they realize that you lied to them, you might lie again to hide your fault. But people can find out that you lied again and you will be in a bigger problem than before you lied again. You would lose others reliabilities. Of course, it will not help you later. So don't lie again to hide your fault. Let them know your fault and ask for forgiveness.
