When we are talking about one thing in particular, we use "the". When we are talking about one thing in general, we use "a" or "an."
EXAMPLES:
Think of the sky at night. In the sky we see 1 moon and millions of stars. So normally we would say:
I saw the moon last night. - Moon is definite since there's only 1 moon for Earth.
I saw a star last night. - Star is indefinite since there are millions of star.
?If we say: "I saw the star Big Dipper last night." - We provided a name of?a star so it is definite and in this case we use the article "the".?
